After being MIA for more than 230 years, the Endeavor—one of the most famous ships in U.S. naval history—has likely been found in Newport Harbor. Yargh! The vessel, which was actually renamed Lord Sandwich, went under in 1778. Leading up to the Battle of Rhode Island, it was one of 13 ships deliberately sunk by British forces in an effort to blockade the city. The Rhode Island Marine Archaeology Project will announce their official findings tomorrow.
