Batman | Gaming Throwback
This movie-made-video-game was developed by Atari and hit arcade cabinets in 1990. Start the game off by punching pedestrian for being in your way. The side-scrolling, platform, beat-em-up stages are all based on the film’s location. In these stages, Batman can pick up and use several items against his foes like the Batarangs, gas grenades and the Batrope. In between those stages, players take control of the Batmobile and Batwing for some first person shooting. Here’s what made this game…and where all its budget went to: photos and voice recordings from the actual movie. That’s right, 22 lines from Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson are sprinkled throughout the game. (It’s just like the movie!) Do you remember how the coin operation went? One quarter would get you three lives while two quarters got you seven. Which Batman game is your favorite? Let us know in the comments!
